Even if he may have a lot of experience with other surgical procedures, it is important that he has experience particularly with vaser liposuction. If you have stubborn localized fat deposits that are resistant to exercise and a healthy, balanced diet, Smart Lipo could be the procedure that is right for you. Whilst the desired result of the two treatments is the same, the big difference between Smart Lipo and VASER Lipo are the techniques used. Where VASER Lipo uses ultrasound energy to emulsify and remove fat deposits, Smart Lipo relies on a laser treatment. It is the way these treatments are administered that may cause you to choose one over the other.

No other device currently on the market has the temperature monitoring capability of the SmartLipo Triplex. Although Vaser Lipo generates heat, as with any other ultrasonic device, the biggest risk is overheating the tissue resulting in skin injury, discoloration and scarring. There are other devices, like Body-Jet ( water assisted lipo ), that are excellent for treating larger volumes of fat. This device does not generate any heat but removes fat through pulsating streams of saline solution.

This treatment can be done while the patient is awake or asleep and can also be done in-office or surgery center/hospital. VASER Liposuction, is a form of Tumescent Liposuction. This means that fluid is infused into the areas where the procedure is to be performed. The cannula is then used to emit an ultrasonic energy that vibrates the fatty tissue and makes it easier to removed/suctioned out.

The Private Clinic’s Doctors have performed over 7,000 VASER Liposuction treatments to date, more than any other clinic in Europe. We were the first clinic to launch Vaser in the UK. Vaser vs. Smartlipo vs. Vaser, Smartlipo and traditional liposuction are all excellent techniques for body shaping, and I use all three techniques in my practice. The Vaser device uses ultrasound energy to break up fat prior to removal of the fat with traditional liposuction technique and the Smartlipo device does the same using laser energy. Which is best for you should be determined by a Plastic Surgeon familiar with each device after examining you. The most important thing to remember, however, is that the person who does your procedure is the most important decision you make.

It is the way these treatments are administered that may cause you to choose one over the other. VASER Lipo is excellent at targeting fat deposits without damaging nearby cells and tissues. Smart Lipo on the other hand uses laser energy to burn away fat tissue and in doing so can also cause damage to the cells, blood vessels and tissues surrounding the fat deposits. Whilst, this is not a serious problem it is in the interests of the patient to cause minimal damage to otherwise healthy and necessary tissues.

I currently use the new Smart Lipo Triplex system with 3 specific laser wavelengths and like it for it’s precise feedback. In the past I also used Vaser on a number of virgin and revision lipo patients and quite honestly it was very similar. One thing I did not care for with Vaser was the size of incision that was needed at the entry points and needing to insert a ring at the skin to protect it.

Both techniques focus on targeting and breaking down those hard to shift fat deposits and removing them safely from those stubborn areas. Using these techniques, we can effectively target double chins, thighs, love handles, arms and the stomach. A lipo treatment might sound like a daunting prospect, but the new liposuction treatments are different to older and more traditional methods, and the results are amazing.
