vaser lipo vs smart lipoLiposuction has been used in the US commercially for more than 30 years. It is the most popular plastic surgery procedure in the US and the world. It gives very good results, generally, but it does have some limitations. In particular, surgical discomfort, recovery time, and the problem of loose skin some patients experience after fat is removed are significant areas of concern.

It generates quite a bit of heat and can damage the skin if the surgeon is not careful. There have been several studies published which show significant skin-tightening when compared with traditional liposuction. I am not aware of any studies showing similar results with Vaser Liposuction. The specific advantage of the SmartLipo Triplex is the ability to accurately heat the skin to a specific temperature in order to optimize the result.

The majority of our patients want to see a dramatic improvement in their body contour and the instant results of vaser liposuction cannot compare to CoolSculpting. Despite its attractive price tag, CoolSculpting has the potential to end up costing more in the long run as you will need multiple treatments and the amount of area covered within a ‘session’ can be limited.

Many other technologies have been developed and have not been scientifically proven to be better. The advertising mantras about enhancing skin shrinkage etc. are just part of the hype used to “sell” these new techniques. Clever names like “Smartlipo” don’t mean they are better. Remember, if your skin lacks good elasticity and if you are too overweight, you will be disappointed with your result no matter what technique is employed.

This is when fluid (a saline solution with anaesthetic) is injected into the area to undergo the procedure, before the fat is sucked out. So the different liposuction techniques differ in how the fat is then removed. In vaser liposuction, a cannula is inserted and ultrasonic energy breaks up and emulsifies the fat so it can be removed. Smart lipo, on the other hand, uses laser energy to do the same thing. While this may not seem like a big difference, ultrasound energy has been proven to be less invasive as it does not involve the use of lasers.

Traditional liposuction relies on the physical strength of your surgeon to break up the fat. He/She will use physical force to move the cannula through the fat layer, breaking it apart. When you think about the force required to perform this procedure, the inherent risks of puncture to the muscles and organs below, and lack of precision in results are clear.

VASER Lipo vs Smart Lipo - Which is Better? Those stubborn fat deposits can be hard to shift no matter what diet or fitness plan you follow. But there are ways that you can achieve a sculpted and toned physique without harmful crash diets or harsh and invasive cosmetic surgery treatments that require weeks of recovery.

Laser Assisted Liposuction (IE SmartLipo) involves heating/cooking ALL the tissues under the skin intending to get heat-based skin shrinkage of the skin. VASER LipoSelection uses ultrasound (intense sound waves) to liquefy the fat before removal, prior to removal by suction. The most important element in achieving good results is still the craftsman, not the tool. In our experience, we may use a combination of Vaser and SmartLipo.

Your best bet is to visit a Plastic Surgeon that has both technologies and see which one you are a candidate for. Always remember that at the of the day the operator is what matters and their experience in doing a lot of cases with each technology. Advantages of SmartLipo combined with Vaser - Why choose only one?
